Curiosity’s Spell

Curiosity’s Spell

Leads to The New & Unexpected

We all have days that feel uninspired, where our internal energy stream runs out.  Those days, when we feel incomplete and wanting for something more, we need to tap into the hidden superpower that we all hold…our curiosity.    Our curiosity indicates that there is something more that we have yet to discover.  It’s intuition and intellect in a beautiful partnership.  It is an innate desire to explore the unknown intellectually.  To learn anew, simply to add to ourselves…without knowing where it will lead.

Acts as Its Own Catalyst

When willpower wanes, awaken curiosity. It has its own inherent ability to drive us forward, without self-inflicted discipline.  It acts as its own catalyst, self-propelling.  Bringing us to the next step, then the next, even when the bigger picture is hazy.  When you pursue something because you are curious, you are fueled by an essential need, an inner yearning.  It is not tied to something you have to do or should do, but rather what you want to do!

Promotes a Risk-Less Beginning

Curiosity has the silent advantage of having limited risk.  We are not bogged down with questioning our own talents, but rather we are inquisitive about our abilities.  With our impression of “nothing to lose,” we only have progress to gain.    If I were to just try this…& see for myself. When we are not trying to prove something (our worth, our success, etc.), our guard is down.  This yields us to being very open & able to make greater strides – an attribute that helps to change the game.  Contrary to most flawed pre-conceived notions, being open unleashes pure potentiality for growth.

Neutralizes Time

Have you ever spent hours doing something just to figure it out?  That’s your curiosity…the thrill of discovery.  Hours can feel like minutes.  You are enthralled by the desire to figure it out, to conquer it.  Days don’t feel long or drag on.  The momentum created by curiosity renders time powerless.

Invites Fear-Less Reward

When you take the approach that you are “curious, not afraid,” fear dissipates.  Along with fear, heavy expectations fall too.  Ego now pushed aside, you have the freedom to act as you please.  No judgments. This self-motivation can create eustress (good stress) in moving towards achievements that act as their own reward, the “Universal high-five,” inviting the boon of self-satisfied pride.  Yes, I did that.

Puts You in Charge

The greatest gift that curiosity gives us, however, is ownership.   When you decide to do something out of curiosity, you are in charge!  You are taking an active role in desiring and defining your life, rather than letting life pass you by.  Rather than opting for all too familiar excuse of “I’m too busy,” shake things up!  Being busy doesn’t equate to active enjoyment of life.  Being busy is just that, taking time to do a bunch of stuff that you feel like you need to do.  It’s easy to be “busy.” Doing what you want to do is a much harder choice.

Explore.  What are you curious about?  Welcome the new and unexpected.  And then follow the pathway.   See where it takes you & trust in it.  Become an authority in your own life.
